The Night That Sara Swetland Scored (Player Song)

(to the tune of Johnny Burke's The Night Pat Murphy Died)
Uncommissioned SEPT 26 2018.

Oh, the night that Sara Swetland scored is a night I'll never forget,

Some of the girls got loaded glad and they ain't got quiet yet;

As long as the ball was passed around every lass was feelin' great,

Then Ricky came with the Naismith Arm' some music for to play,

And that's how they showed their respect for Sara Swetland,

That's how they showed their honor and their pride;

They said it was a fairytale and they winked at one another,

Now everyone in the Haley sang, the night Miss Swetland scored,

Miss Swetland stood in the corner, to service by the net,

When Johnny and his friends, came roaring from the get;

They crept into an empty spot toward that very goal,

Then Swetland put it into play with a score she gave and stole,

At three o'clock in the morning, after having fun so late,

Gibbo came to break it up and check Miss Swetland's state;

He stopped the clock so good ol' Ricky couldn't tell the time,

And at a quarter after three, they argued it was nine,

R

And everyone got merry, they didn't care for prayer,

Miss Swetland said she'd wait till all the gang were there;

Of all the sights I've ever seen that made me jump for joy,

They sang along and told to me "you're a very lucky boy,"

R

On the way they stopped at Inty beyond the Bemis-Schu,

They all walked in 'round half past eight and staggered out at noon,

They went up to Brock-Affleck, so holy and sublime,

And found out when they got there, they left the ball behind,

As long as the ball was passed around every lass was feelin' great,
